Dogs Fouling the Green

DOGS FOULING THE GREEN

It has been brought the attention of the Trustees that an increasing number of dog walkers are not clearing up after their dogs have defecated. Not only are some members of the public not clearing up their dog’s mess but some are clearing up and then throwing the bags into the hedges and bushes

Not only is this thoughtless disgusting behaviour but creates a health hazard we could well do without at this time.

The Trustees have gone to considerable expense to provide three bins, two on the Green and one on the permissive pathway and a considerable amount of our budget goes on providing free bags for dog walkers and paying the council to empty the bins.

The consequences of the thoughtless actions of some mindless dog walkers is that we may have to impose a restriction that all dogs on the Green will have to be kept on a lead. If we have to do that and that restriction fails then we may well have to close the Green to dog walkers. This will then penalise those responsible dog walkers so we would ask that if you see anyone either not picking up their dog mess or throwing bags in the hedges please ask them to pick up the mess and retrieve the bags from the hedge and put them in the bins provided.

Please do not abuse the facilities of the Green otherwise everyone will suffer the consequencesFinally we would thank those dog walkers who responsibly clear up after their dog and use the bins.

RMGTCIO – New Legal Structure

As advised by the Chairman in his letter to “Friends of the Green” on 30th September 2024, the former Rotherfield Millennium Green Trust (“RMGT”), which was established as a “Charitable Trust” has been replaced by a different legal entity called Rotherfield Millennium Green Trust CIO (“RMGTCIO”), and our new bankers are now CAF Bank, which is operated specifically for charities. For a copy of the Chairman’s letter please contact the Treasurer (treasurer@RMGTCIO.org.uk)

RMGT’s old account with Barclays was closed on 20th December 2024. Would all Friends and other subscribers please make note of this and ensure that your standing order mandates in favour of RMGT / Barclays have been replaced by new ones in favour of Rotherfield Millennium Green Trust CIO and it’s account no. 00037351 with CAF Bank (sort code 40-52-40). Please ensure that all payments reflect the “CIO” suffix of our new name.

Thank you for your continued support!
