- Cows with newly born calves can be aggressive – do NOT approach calf or go between calf and mother. Please keep dogs close and under control on a lead. If you are threatened by cattle, let the dog go as cows may chase the dog. Note that the Green is now split into two halves, one of which should always be free of cattle.
- Grazing cattle – keep clear of them at all times, particularly when walking dogs.
- Some paths are muddy and uneven – please ensure you have suitable footwear. The path in the formal area is suitable in most conditions.
- The pond is deep and steep sided – keep away. It is not suitable for swimming.
- There are boggy areas on site where you may get trapped in mud. Keep to well defined paths if you are unsure.
- Well, reservoir and manholes – visit with caution.
- Electric or barbed wire fences -.Beware of barbed wire, and electric fence around pond area.
- Falling trees/branches – be aware that trees can drop branches without warning.
- Accidents and Hazards such as fallen trees, broken bridges or board walk should always be reported – phone numbers are on the notice boards.
- Keep away from the Bee Hives
- Litter – dispose of all litter safely and tidily.
- Contractors or volunteers working on site. Keep clear and heed any warning signs.
- Disused farm machinery – keep off.
- Toxicara canis. This is a micro-organism found in dog faeces that can cause blindness in children. Clean up after your dog. Parents ensure that your children maintain good standards of hygiene.
- Blue green algae. Can, in certain conditions, occur in water. Avoid the scum on the ponds edge and wash off immediately if it comes in contact with the skin.
- Weils disease. A rare bacterial infection from rat urine associated with contaminated water. Good hygiene (washing hands before eating) will guard against it.
- Tetanus can be found in the soil and the manure of animals and can get into the body via cuts and grazes.
- Lyme disease is spread by ticks and causes fever and can be serious if untreated. Seek medical advice if a tick is found on the skin.
- Motorised machinery. Please keep a safe distance from motorised machinery as sticks and stones can be thrown up.
